Register for EMU Capacity Building Seminar “Group Pedagogy" in Lucerne, Switzerland 6 - 7 November 2015

The start of the new EMU Capacity Building seminar 'Group Pedagogy' which will be taking place in Lucerne, Switzerland 6 - 7 November 2015 with many exciting sessions and wonderful speakers is coming closer!
The seminar will be hosted by the Musikschule Luzern and will explore group pedagogy from different angels: instrumental and vocal teaching in groups, distance learning in groups (with Géza Szilvay) as well as group dynamics and diverse pedagogical methods e.g the Colourstrings approach.

The target group of the seminar is music school directors and teachers as well as people working in national music school associations. The seminar suits well for any person who is interested in developing new pedagogical skills and tools.

The registration fee is 300 € (Registration fee includes dinner 06.11. and lunch 07.11. as well as refreshments during the seminar).

Communiqué de l'association Zebrock

Zebrock est une association d'action culturelle dans le champs des musiques populaires en Seine-Saint-Denis et en Ile de France.
Cette dernière doit faire face à une situation difficile de redressement judiciaire qui ne fait qu'illustrer la situation culturelle en France. De nombreuses associations souffrent du manque de politiques culturelles sur le long terme et des politiques d'austérité qui sévissent dans le domaine de la culture.

Continuer Zebrock, c'est nécessaire 

Redressement judiciaire pour Zebrock: la décision du tribunal de grande instance de Bobigny retient la demande de mise en redressement judiciaire que nous avons été contraints de formuler pour assainir la situation de notre association.

Le plan de redressement que nous avons établi est particulièrement exigeant: aux licenciements effectués en avril dernier (qui succèdent à ceux effectués il y a un an, dont nous espérions qu'ils suffiraient à redresser la situation, pour peu que nous y fussions aidés) s'ajoutent six mois de chômage partiel pour l'équipe réduite à quatre personnes et à la nécessité de déménager pour des locaux moins coûteux.

Animés d'une grande détermination à continuer Zebrock et riches de l'expérience accumulée au fil des vingt-cinq années écoulées, nous allons mettre en oeuvre le projet d'activité, certes remanié, mais fidèle aux valeurs du projet de notre association. Education, action culturelle, promotion des savoirs et de conceptions progressistes de la vie restent nos points cardinaux.
Nous allons bien sûr tirer toutes les leçons de nos difficultés: celles qui nous incombent et les autres, toutes les autres, jusque dans leur dimension politique.

Depuis toujours principalement porté par des financements publics, le projet de Zebrock ne pourra se développer sans le soutien de la puissance publique et des organismes professionnels. Nous le revendiquons, comme nous revendiquons de penser l'action culturelle et la création utiles au combat contre les inégalités qui intimident et éloignent des oeuvres de création les citoyens les plus modestes et les moins formés, notamment les jeunes. 
C'est notre conscience, notre engagement.

Plus que jamais: "place à la musique".

  • Nous allons relancer et renouveler les actions éducatives en milieu scolaire, collèges et lycées. L'appétit de musique et la curiosité des adolescents sont immenses, le champ est vaste. Plus que jamais, nous sommes des militants de l'éducation artistique et culturelle.
  • Le succès de l'édition 2015 du Grand Zebrock, nous invite à pousser les feux du soutien et de l'encouragement et à la définition d'outils coopératifs à destination des projets musicaux et de leurs créateurs.
  • Nous constatons chaque jour la pénétration toujours plus poussée des pratiques et outils numériques dans notre environnement. Usages nouveaux, médiation numérique, objets et outils connectés: le futur est ici et nous pensons que le tissu associatif et les acteurs culturels doivent l'investir et ne pas laisser le champ libre aux seuls marchands de "temps de cerveau humain disponible".
  • La Carte du monde des musiques, la plate-forme bienvenueenchanson.org, ouvrent d'ores et déjà de belles perspectives de travail, comme les nombreuses ressources, expertises et savoir-faires accumulés sont le gage de la valeur du projet de Zebrock.

Nos ambitions sont élevées, notre passion et nos envies aussi.

A 25 ans passés, Zebrock est une belle histoire, une histoire de musique, de partages et de convictions liées à un territoire passionant, la Seine-Saint-Denis, métaphore des possibles qui donnera au Grand Paris ses couleurs les plus vives. Nous entendons bien prendre place dans les actions culturelles de la Métropole et attendons qu'y soient garanties la sécurité budgétaire et professionnelle d'opérateurs culturels comme Zebrock, investis sur le terrain et en milieu scolaire.
La période qui s'ouvre sera difficile. Nous appelons les amis de Zebrock à être vigilants et à rester mobilisés pour que le projet de l'association puisse se redéployer et s'inscrire dans la durée.

Oui, continuer Zebrock, c'est nécessaire.

ECSA: New Music Incubator – Call for Applications

ECSA logoThe New Music Incubator is a project that brings together professional new music practitioners (composers, musicians, improvisers, electronic music artists, sound artists, etc.) from the EU countries for a period of collaborative creative research.

This year's edition is curated by ECSA who will bring in professional composers from its lively network to feed in the incubating process and take part in the project.

The Voice project: Vision On Innovation for Choral music in Europe

VOICE is a European project for the sustainable development and innovation of choral singing, a first-time major cooperation between choral operators, music educators and researchers.
It is a joint effort of 15 coorganisers, spread over 11 countries.

The aims of VOICE are:  

  • To encourage new events and methods and the creation of innovative repertoire
  • Promote the voice as universal instrument
  • Improve the quality of vocal music
  • Enable transnational mobility and circulation of (young) musicians and choral works
  • Enhance the dialogue between cultures and generations as well as the exchange of expertise
  • Develop new tools for the promotion of singing in music education.

NAMM Elects New Executive Committee Member and Positions

The NAMM executive committee enjoys a seamless succession welcoming Joel Menchey and honoring outgoing Chair Morton during Summer NAMM. The changing of the guard started Saturday, July 11 during the annual summer board meeting held in Nashville, TN.


Mark Goff, previously NAMM's vice chair, will move into a new role as chair of NAMM's Board of Directors. Goff is president of Paige's Music, a school music retailer in Indianapolis, Ind., which was founded in 1871. Goff joined the company in 1985 and purchased the business in 1999. "Like so many of my colleagues, NAMM has played a significant role in both my business and personal growth throughout my 30 years in the industry," said Goff. "For that reason I am honored and humbled to be elected chairman of NAMM's board of directors and will work very hard to support NAMM's mission of strengthening the industry and promoting music making to people of all ages."
