The International Music Council (IMC) and .MUSIC announce a strategic partnership to transform the digital identities of the global music community to promote fair recognition, remuneration and universal access. In the dynamic landscape of the digital era, where the authenticity of music identity and intellectual property form the foundation of creative expression, the introduction of the community-driven .MUSIC top-level domain marks a vital advancement in reinforcing these essential elements.

As part of its Pioneer Program, the IMC and .MUSIC announce a strategic partnership to provide a unique global music identity that gives music representation and universal access to the IMC’s global music community by utilising the .MUSIC domain name, the verified MusicID and new innovative tools, such as the SmartBadge and SmartPage.

This landmark collaboration aims to strengthen and promote the IMC’s Five Music Rights, focusing on the freedom to participate, express, learn, and receive fair recognition and remuneration for music contributions. The launch of .MUSIC, a pioneering initiative led by the global music industry, is set to authenticate the digital identities of all musicians, industry professionals and music organisations to foster a safe and secure digital environment where verified music artists, creators, industry professionals, companies and brands can thrive.

Silja Fischer, IMC Secretary-General, highlighted the impact of this partnership, stating, “We are excited to collaborate with .MUSIC to provide our global music community with a unique digital identity that allows music artists and everyone involved in music to express themselves freely across borders and have global access to the digital music world through a unifying platform that provides exposure to music for all.”

“The International Music Council and .MUSIC are committed to developing programs and initiatives that will support the music rights of artists, including their artistic freedoms. The partnership will focus on promoting musical involvement and ensuring that artists have the necessary tools and recognition to succeed in the evolving digital landscape,” stated IMC President, Shelia Woodward.

Constantine Roussos, Founder and CEO of .MUSIC, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Teaming up with the International Music Council represents a significant step towards enhancing the .MUSIC’s vision of creating a trusted, safe, and secure online environment for the global music community. Through this partnership, we aim to further solidify our commitment to safeguarding intellectual property rights and ensuring that every music creator can establish a verified presence on the Internet to enable discovery, recognition and fair compensation.”

“We look forward to providing a verified music identity that gives universal and secure access to everyone involved in music,” stated, Marina Roussou, the Executive Director of id.MUSIC, the identity verification provider of .MUSIC.
