In Nairobi, Kenya, young activists and musicians from across four continents came together for the Earth Artivists Training and Songwriting Workshop—a 10-day program blending climate justice, community engagement, and music.

The workshop empowered participants to transform lived experiences of climate impact into powerful artistic expression. It was coordinated by IMC within the framework of the Voices for Change project, an initiative led by CCIVS and co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the EU.

Led by Kenyan artist and educator Chekmate Mido, the songwriting sessions focused on vocal technique, lyrical storytelling, and musical structure. With his guidance, participants shared and shaped their stories—of droughts, displacement, and resistance—into a collaborative song that reflected their common struggles and hopes.

With a focus on inclusion and a decolonized approach to environmental advocacy, the Earth Artivists Training and Songwriting Workshop experience became a celebration of music as a force for awareness and action.

Stay tuned: the song will be released soon!
