Systemic Innovation for a New Music Economy

Fair Music is on a mission to fix one of the digital age’s most pressing cultural challenges: the mismatch between music’s value and how its creators are paid. With billions flowing through global streaming services, less than 20% of artists see any meaningful income. Fair Music offers a systemic solution, building an entirely new digital infrastructure to make music rights trackable, shareable, and directly monetizable.

The platform’s hybrid economic model breaks away from ad-based or subscription-only revenue streams. Instead, it integrates features such as direct licensing for creators, fan-to-artist micropayments, and metadata monetization. Fans can not only support the artists they love but also follow how their contributions are used—adding a layer of transparency and community engagement that existing platforms lack.

Blockchain integration ensures that rights are securely embedded into each piece of music, while smart contracts automate the flow of funds in near real-time. This reduces dependence on third-party distributors and eliminates months-long payment delays, ensuring that revenues reach creators swiftly and accurately.

What truly sets Fair Music apart is its vision for a participatory music economy—one where listeners, artists, rights holders, and developers all have a stake in the platform’s governance. By embedding fairness into the technological fabric, Fair Music is creating a music ecosystem that works for everyone.

The Fair Music Project is Co-Funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union.
